This is pretty straight forward. The goal of this phase of care is to treat the cause of the pain (not just cover up your symptoms). We want to provide fast relief, but more importantly, we want to promote healing and resolution of the underlying problem. Treatments include adjustments that are tolerable, not painful, and other modalities to aid in the healing process.
Patients receiving this type of treatment are actively trying to improve their overall health and function. Usually we are dealing with very low level pain or no pain at all at this stage. We recommend specific home exercises along with a program of care to get you stronger, more flexible, and better balanced. Usually patients under this type of care are treated about 1x/week in the clinic, and do specific activities (either their own exercise regimen, athletics, or prescribed exercises) outside of the clinic to attain their goals. Treatment includes specific adjustments and soft tissue work to enhance functional movement patterns, balance, reaction time, and strength creating a more robust and healthy body.
MAINTENANCE AND PREVENTATIVE CARE
Patients under this phase of care receive treatment anywhere from 1-4x/month (dictated by lifestyle) to mitigate the damages of daily life. The goal is to maintain a high level of health and functionability in a proactive wellness based model. Our daily lives involve a variety of neuromechanical stressors that accumulate over time. Periodic adjustments reduce these stressors so the body can stay healthy and active for the long haul.
What type of care is right for you is completely up to you! I can make recommendations, but in the end the decision is yours. You can wait until you hurt or you can come in for a tune up on a regular basis. Our office is here for you either way, however I’ve found it is best if everyone is on the same page. So just let us know YOUR HEALTH GOALS, and we will do our best to help you achieve them.
